According to the Energy Star Portfolio Manager Website "The U.S. federal government is closed due to a lapse in appropriations. For the duration of the U.S. government shutdown, all ENERGY STAR tools, resources, and data services will not be available."

Well, here we go again….for those of you in the industry that count on Energy Star Portfolio Manager to assess and track building energy consumption, the site will be down for the foreseeable future. No one has a clear picture of how long this will last so getting contingency plans in place including alerting any clients relying on Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) reporting would be wise.

For our clients, please reach out to our support team to review your plans. If you are using SavingsTracker to track energy savings, you’ll be fine as we don’t rely on ESPM for normalization. If you need to benchmark buildings, consider using the Scorecard which also does not rely on ESPM for assessing and/or tracking weather normalized consumption. We designed this anticipating potential shut downs and the prospect that Energy Star would lose its funding given the political climate.

Here’s best wishes for a safe holiday and Happy New Year from BuildingAdvice.
